How to Give Your Puppy Medicine
Giving your puppy medicine can be quite a challenge, but don’t worry, we’ve got your back! Let’s tackle the task of giving liquid and pill medication to your puppies. For more puppy tips make sure to follow us on socials.
First up, liquid medication. Make sure to measure the medication dose using a syringe or dropper as prescribed by your veterinarian. Hold your pup close and get that syringe ready. Slowly and gently, slip that medicine into the side of their mouth. Remember, we’re not trying to drown them, so go easy on the squirting! Then, give your pup a little massage to help them swallow it down. Voila! You just served up a shot of medicine to your furry little friend.
Next, let’s talk about pills. It’s time to play doctor, but not the kind that involves a stethoscope and a long wait in the waiting room. Hold that pill between your thumb and forefinger and give your pup a pep talk. “You got this, little buddy! You can swallow this like a pro!”. Hold their head up, open their mouth, and pop that pill in the back of their throat. You might need to hold their mouth closed and give them a little pat on the back, but before you know it, they’ll have swallowed that pill like a champ.
And there you have it, folks! You just gave your puppy medicine like a pro. Remember to offer them a treat or a little praise for being such a good sport. And if all else fails, just pretend you’re running a little animal hospital at home – complete with white lab coat and a cute little name tag.
Wishing you and your pup a hassle-free medication experience!
